Thumbs Up: Max’s Three Layer Chocolate Concoction with Toffee Bananas
Thumbs Down: pricey, crowded, value for the dollar
Recommendations: If you go, go early if not at all! It’s not worth coming if you’re a true fine chocolate-lover.
“CID Highlight” – Max’s Three Layer Chocolate Concoction with Toffee Bananas: CID Rating 3 out of 5
Milk Chocolate cream layered with toffee bananas and white chocolate chunks, topped with whipped cream. Served with crunchy wafer balls and a biscotti on the side ringing in at $9.75. If you like bananas, then this dish is for you. It was a little hard to eat considering the small spout for the jar. But nothing a small coffee spoon can’t handle. The fresh bananas mixed in with the gooey milk chocolate cream hit two spots.
Churros Fondue (For One): CID Rating 2.5 out of 5
A crispy warm dough pastry rolled in cinnamon sugar served with pure melted milk chocolate fondue, toffee dip and raspberry sauce, so you can create your own funky flavors of churros ringing in at $10.50. This dish definitely missed the value for the dollar mark. The churros was warm but not crispy. It was doughy and hard. The assortment of dipping sauces added to the dish but not enough to be worth the price.
Banana and Hazelnut Cream Crepe: CID Rating 3 out of 5
A thin French crepe stuffed with melted chocolate chunks, hazelnut creme and sliced bananas. Served with vanilla ice cream, fresh strawberries, blueberries, chocolate sauce and candies hazelnut crunchy bits ringing in at $12.50. I enjoyed this dish. The crepes were light and the filling was smooth and creamy. Still not good enough for another visit to Max Brenner just for it.
Munchies Waffles: CID Rating 3 out of 5
Warm waffles topped with whipped cream, candies hazelnut crunchy bits and your choice of two scoops of ice cream (dark, milk, white chocolate or vanilla). Served with crunchy chocolate wafer balls and warm chocolate sauce ringing in at $12.25. Is that an Egg-o? Okay, maybe not but it might as well have been. Taste just as good and the frozen treat costs a lot less.
